biscuit porcelain, of cylindrical form, the body with flaring rim, gilt inside rim, the exterior narrow and wide gilt edging, encompassed by moulded white frieze of rose blossoms, buds and leafy branches, as well as scenes in the manner of antiquity on a green ground, the white baluster encompassed by moulded gilt blossoms and rosettes on leafy branches, the gilt handles with leaf terminals, green knop with 2 gilt foliage wreaths, gilt shaft and fluted round base, height: 46 cm, 1 knop ring slightly chipped and gilt, 1 foot ring slightly chipped on the interior, the edges each with 1 small expert restoration, cleaned;
Meissen, underglaze blue crossed swords 1814-1830, impressed no. 2, in the Wedgwood style "Grünes Jasper Cameo", scene after J. Flaxman (Ru)

"Jasper ware" a particularly fine-grained type of stoneware which was very well suited to neoclassical tastes in its structure and aesthetic potential.
