Mixed lot (3 pieces), Indonesia, Island of Timor: three spoons, carved from the horn of water buffalo and richly decorated.
Three spoons, known as ‘sunu’, from western Timor. Carved from the dark brown or black horn of the water buffalo. One of the three Timor spoons has a smooth handle, topped with three human heads. The two other spoons have flat handles with typical openwork decorative carving, each topped with images of birds.
Length: 18 cm; 21 cm; 21.5 cm. First half of the 20th century. (ME)
