A rather old ‘Hinggi’ shawl in the typical style of the eastern Sumba: consisting of two panels of woven cotton that have been sewn together. In Ikat technique, dyed in two different shades of red and black (the warp threads were dyed prior to weaving). With 16 vertically winding dragons (or snakes), with stags, stars and other motifs. Polychrome end borders on both short sides. A beautiful, old and very well-preserved textile, without damage.
