An especially beautiful large, old amulet pendant of the Tekke Turkmens, known as ‘Tumar’. Entirely crafted from quality silver and partly fire gilded. With a transverse, hexagonally crafted amulet box for storing written amulets. The box features hemispheric ends (the left one opens the box), and is surmounted by a triangular crest. The latter has ram head motifs on both upper edges and on two small, sidelong crests. An openwork band runs horizontally under the amulet box. The open areas are backed with red fabric. Two further sidelong ram head pendants can also be seen. Silver chains with various silver spherical bells (with stones inside) hang from this lower piece. All surfaces on the front side of the amulet pendant ‘Tumar’ are engraved with curved ornamentation typical of the Tekke Turkmens and partly fire gilded. The back is smooth and shiny. This very impressive ‘Tumar’ is decorated with 26 flat and 7 round cabochon cut carnelian stones. It also has an old, light brown woven carrying strap. A magnificent, large, old piece, completely preserved (rare) and without significant damage.
Height: 32 cm (with chain and rattles); width: 26 cm; weight: 900 grams.
