A Neo-Gothic winged altarpiece,
Oberammergau, circa 1880, to the centre, Madonna and Child, surrounded by angels, kneeling before them Sts Catherine and Stephen, beneath which the Annunciation, to the both sides, four saints, wood skilfully carved, polychrome paintwork with gilding, 254 x 256 x 27 cm, Neo-Gothic altarpiece in very good and complete condition, little age damage, (MC)
The altarpiece was produced over many years by a sculptor’s workshop in Oberammergau for the Convent of the Holy Cross in Sussex, Great Britain, and sold into private ownership in Styria in the 1980s after the convent closed.
