The present painting is registered in the RKD database under number 49722. For his still lifes, Joris van Son, who was admitted to the Antwerp Guild of Saint Luke in 1643/44, looked back to Daniel Seghers and Jan Davidsz. de Heem. His oeuvre holds a special position between the Flemish and Dutch schools. In his later period, starting from 1660 onwards, the Dutch element prevails in his art.
