1978 Aston Martin V8 Saloon
Once of the 967 3 Series saloons built
Matching numbers
Aston Martin brought the DBS to the market in 1967. The original plan was to include a new V8 engine. The aluminium V8 was not ready until 1969 and completed the new coupé, now called the DBS V8. With the change of ownership at Aston Martin in 1972, the car underwent a change to the front end and name, as well. Now known simply as the V8, the vehicle also had large headlights on the front. In 1973 they used Weber carburettors instead of a fuel injection system, which made a palpable improvement to the engine characteristics and enabled export to the USA. The production of these handmade elite cars only ended in 1989.
After James Bond was unfaithful to the Aston Martin at the start of the 70s, he returned to the brand from Newport Pagnell in the form of Timothy Dalton, with the V8. This Aston Martin V8 is a late model 3 series, built in March 1978 and intended for the American market. Like most of its kind, the Gran Turismo was ordered with an automatic gearbox. It is the colour of this car, however, that sets it apart from the rest. This Aston Martin still runs with its original engine, which makes a more than convincing impression! The older paint job shows its age here and there, but the interior space is as it should be for a British luxury car. The V8 came to Austria from a German collector, still has valid German TÜV certification and has already been inspected for registration here. Since the driver has taken a job in the Middle Kingdom, this Aston Martin is now waiting for new secret agents!
