West Turkestan, c. 89 x 137 cm, mid-19th century, As2 = asymmetrical knots (partly symmetrical knot), open to the right, slightly layered, H 40, V 70 = c. 2.800 kts/sqm; elite 12-gul chuval in superb condition, the tribal origin of this piece is not precisely visible, colours, floral ends and the Saryk gul indeed indicate the eponymous group, the Persian knots and the only slight layering of the warp threads are by contrast not standard; velvety pile with numerous areas of ruby-red silk, particularly noticeable is the colourful elem with three filigree tree motifs, as well as the upper original end, side edges repaired.
