Atchugarry “takes on the marble, seeking to investigate its potential, discover its clues. He has no need for a preparatory drawing: he traces some rough lines directly onto the stone to be hewn. The marvel will be revealed in a process of continuous, daily becoming, the final destination remaining hidden to the artist himself. In the white statue marble from Carrara or the pink marble of Portugal, he chases after a vein, a difference in tone, not to be considered a hindrance to the movement of his hand, but rather a hint at a fortunate route to creation.
