The present work may be compared to the Holy family with Saint John the Baptist by Giovan Gioseffo Dal Sole in a private collection in Milan, with preparatory drawings in the collection of the Duke of Devonshire, Chatsworth (see C. Thiem, Giovan Gioseffo Dal Sole: dipinti, affreschi, disegni, Bologna 1990, p. 95, no. Q11, pp. 164-165, no. CH11).
