adorned with head feathers, a long white headscarf decorated with gold braid, a string of gilt beads with a black bow, white ruched shirt with light blue bands, yellow corsage with richly pleated skirt with gold braid to the reverse, black skirt with brightly painted indianisch branches in flower, gilt and light blue bands and gold braid, vermillion shoes with gilt laces, porcelain, gilt-accented rocailles base covered with bright flowers, height 21 cm, Meissen, underglaze blue sword mark, late 19th cent., model no. 2733, former no. 71, painter no. 1, model by Friedrich Elias Meyer circa 1750-1752 (Ru)
Lit.: I. Menzhausen, J. Karpinski, In Porzellan verzaubert, Smlg. Pauls-Eisenbeiss, Basel, pp. 120, 121, ill. There is a volume in the Kupferstichkabinett Dresden with a pen-and-ink drawing, the cover sheet of which bears the following title: ‘Attilio Regolo Vestiario dela Opera representata nel Carnevale MDCCL’. The drawings are related to the opera by Hasse, Attilio Regulo, which was performed in Dresden on 12 January 1750. The individual plates depict the performers involved. The first plate has a caption reading ‘Attilia Faustina’, the second, ‘Regolo Annibali’. The porcelain figure matches the posture and dress shown in this drawing, and suggests that it might be possible to identify the figure as Faustina Hasse.
