Northeast Persia (Iran), c. 303 x 205 cm, about 1970, when he died in 1977, the celebrated master weaver Abbasgholi Saber, together with his sons, owned five large workshops with about three hundred looms working almost exclusively on demand, his carpets are regarded today as some of the best Persian products, the present piece is in perfect condition with considerable silk portions in parts of the pattern, typical are also the all-round selvedge and the fine knotting quality with c. 800,000 kts/sqm, master signature "Giavid" – one of Saber’s sons – on the upper front.
