In six-lobed, circular form, the flattened, round cover in pierce work with central medallion ornamented with stems of plum blossom and bamboo. Two-part, with handle that can be folded to one side. Traces of wear. Height: 10.2 cm. (BA)
Provenance:
collection of Dr Robert Spira (1888-1967), Graz; 5.8.1938 seized by the Gestapo; 20.2.1939; deposited with Landesmuseum Joanneum for safe-keeping (inv. no. 2258) 16.10.2014 determination of the Styrian state government that it should be restituted. Since, in this case, no legal heirs could be found, in accordance with the determination made by the Styrian state government, and in line with the Provincial Constitutional Law on the restitution of questionable acquisitions seized from their owners during the National Socialist tyranny, the object was marked for sale, the proceeds of which to go to the benefit of victims of National Socialism, or an appropriate organisation.
