Xia Jiyuan (?): two album leaves, China, Qing dynasty, 19th cent.
Ink and colours on paper, laid down on a hanging scroll. The upper leaf depicts farm houses in the mountains, cyclically dated wu ying (1818 or 1878), signed with seal: ‘Xia Jiyuan’. The lower leaf depicts a garden pavilion encompassed by Taihu rocks and pine trees by water; like the upper leaf, it is dated and signed with a seal, bearing the dedication ‘Wei Wen Mo shi xiong zuo’ (painted for my good friend, Wen Mo). A few worm holes. 20 x 31.5 cm each. (BA)
