glass, colourless, curved sides with gold edges, gold-painted flowers and battlements as well as small gold leaves with rosettes on silver-yellow stained band, reserve with transparent colour-painted veduta described as "Innere Ansicht der K. K. Hofburg" underneath in gold writing on silver-yellow base, cog-wheeled ranft with gold edges, stand with silver-yellow sixteen point star to base, height 12 cm, lip 1 mm chipped, Anton Kothgasser, Vienna around 1811, very rare depiction (Ru)

When Emperor Joseph II had the wall running from Augustinerkirche church to the Schwibbogen near the Stallburg demolished in 1783 thereby freeing a square that was named “Josephsplatz” in 1786 and retains this name until today.

The depictions shows the „Amalienburg“ and “Reichkanzleitrakt”

The depiction shows the castle's courtyard with Josephsplatz, but without the memorial for Emperor Joseph II. This memorial by Franz Zauner was unveiled in 1807. Joseph II, Vienna March 13, 1741- February 20, 1790, Emperor from 1765, oldest son of Emperor Francis I and Maria Theresa, was raised in the spirit of Catholic enlightenment and modern natural law.
