Southwest Persia (Iran), c. 196 x 157 cm, second half of the 19th century, very finely knotted carpet of the Ainalu tribes with so-called “Morghi” pattern, nine vertical abstract depictions of the tree of life are flanked by innumerable images of chickens and doves arranged in pairs, with bright colours and red overcolouring typical of this region in the upper third, the present piece still preserved kilim ends on both sides, partly low pile with minor repairs, side edges reworked, fringe damages due to age.
