br>Schönborn’s Peribolos also known as the HEROON of Trysa in Lycia (Turkey) is a tomb complex dating to antiquity and rediscovered by Julius August Schönborn in 1841. In 1882 the complete tomb was shipped to Vienna where it became part of the imperial collection. The rare and original photographs described above date from the first of two expeditions (1881 and 1882) relating to the tomb. The historic monument is still part of the collection of the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna. The expedition was organised by the K. K. Ministry of Culture and Education and was joined by George Niemann, Felix von Luschan and Emanuel Löwy. Wilhelm Burger, who documented the building, also took some unique ethnological pictures of the Yörük (Yuruk) tribe. Some of his photographs later informed the publication "Reisen im südwestlichen Kleinasien Vol. 1, Reisen in Lykien und Karien" by Otto Benndorf and George Niemann, Vienna 1884.
