[...] The idea of working on strictly monochrome canvases and directly on the frame – thus elevating the canvas from simple support to austere protagonist of the formal elaboration, autonomous from colour even in creating shadows and lights – subtended the desire to eliminate any residue of subjectivism, renouncing to the sensual mixes of colour of the informal and to the expressiveness of the pictorial gesture. If the first extroflected canvases – realized initially in canvas stuffed with paper and later using foam rubber – they formed a sort of alphabet, a reservoir of formal solutions to be drawn upon subsequently, even when at the end of the Sixties, they had overlapped into the environmental installation – the successive versions were less abstract, becoming “opulent, morbid objects, anything but ‘pure’, rather than capture-space surfaces, they are pictures into which to sink, soft, welcoming, almost ‘practicable’.” (Museo del novecento, The Collection, Electa, Milan 2010, p. 273 quoted from Meneguzzo 2003, p. 46)

My works are not coloured forms, but forms that emerge from colours, that is to say from light.
