Mixed lot (5 items): highlands, New Guinea; Tribe: Dani:
1: A headband with four horizontal rows of smaller, pierced Nassa shells, attached to a braid. With slight age damage (3 shells missing). L: 37 cm.
2: A chest or upper arm ornament made out of three separated strips of wickerwork, with rows of smaller, pierced Nassa shells attached. Consolidated above with an imported, brown band. L: 49 cm (total).
3: Two small, petrified ammonites out of black stone. Such finds are worn by the Dani as protective amulets. Covered in wickerwork of strings made of plant fibre, and provided with carrying strings. One ammonite is decorated with four cowrie shells.
L: 33 cm and 36 cm (total).
4: A bracelet, plaited out of fine, two-coloured rattan strips. Minor age-related damage. DM: 14 cm. All objects: First half to mid-20th century. (ME)
