Mixed lot (2 items): A belt bag from Tibet, set with turquoise and coral, and a silver Tuareg bangle from the Sahara (north Africa). - Mimoevropské a domorodé umění

1: Tibet: An old belt bag made of leather, with a hook clasp, for everyday items (money etc.). The front side and lower edge of the bag are richly decorated with tight leaf- and floral tendrils, cast and embossed volute decorations as well as two fish made of brass. With two red coral pearls set in brass, as well as two set turquoises. Three multi-part embossed silver pendants hang from three copper eyelets on the lower edge. The rear side of the bag is set with twelve silver hemispheres. A red leather strap is attached with an iron ring to the decorative engraved silver hanger. The strap is also decorated with an embossed and engraved strip of silver with red coral and two blue turquoises set in brass. All in all an elaborate, good piece of workmanship. No damage. 19th century to early 20th L: c. 38 cm (total, including pendants), H: 9 cm, W: 12 cm (the bag alone).
2: Tuareg, Sahara, North Africa: A wide bangle made of good silver. Probably from the Kel Ahaggar of the territory of Tamanrasset in southern Algeria. A single piece, crafted as three bands separated by ridges, one on top of the other: cast, embossed and engraved.
The typical, extremely finely crafted geometrical engravings of this piece display the high standards of craftsmanship of the silversmith caste (‘Ineden') of the Tuareg.
C. mid-20th century; H: 6.2 cm, DM: c. 6.2 cm. (ME)
