Nepal: A typical Nepali dagger, known as a ‘Kukri’ or ‘Khukuri’. With sheath and two accessory blades. The hilt is decorated with silver.
The 'Kukri' (also called 'Khukri' or 'Khukuri') is a typical knife of Nepal. It was used as a weapon, tool or prestige object. The Kukri dagger has a long, heavy, single-edged blade, slightly curved and broadened towards the centre, and a small recess with a metal peg towards the hilt.
The present, perfectly crafted 'Kukri' has a hilt of precious wood, trimmed with good silver at the centre and butt of the grip. The wooden sheath is cloaked in black leather, embossed with linear decorations. On the inside of the sheath sit two additional small accessory blades.
A complete specimen with a good patina and minor age-related damage (on the sheath).
