Mixed lot (2 items): An old ivory bangle from Tibet or northern India, and an ankle bracelet from India, cast in brass.
1: An ivory bangle with fine craquelure and old, honey-coloured patina (ivory becomes darker with use). Late 19th century to the first third of the 20th century; DM: 10.7 cm (exterior), 7.4 cm (interior).
2: An ankle bracelet from India, Rajasthan province. Made of yellow cast-alloy (brass), executed with ‘waste mould’ casting. An interesting, openwork piece, decorated with linear and braided bands, spirals and dots, as well as with all-round, circular eyelets on the outside. The eyelets served to attach bells, which rang when the woman who wore this moved. Cast in two sections, with clasp closures.
