An unusual centrepiece ‘Hunting and Fishing’ exhibited at the World’s Fair Chicago in 1893, - Starožitnosti (Nábytek, Sochařská díla)

porcelain, oval basket with wide, fine gilt rims, to interior gilt-accented pierced latticework and shell rocailles, gilt-painted décor and 4 reserves, within which and the well colourfully-painted floral bouquets and strewn flowers, Ceres seated on a raised rocailles, holding in her left hand a cornucopia of fruit, with her right hand pointing at the earth, on a small rocailles a boy Bacchus on a purple cloth with a goblet of red wine in his right hand, around his body a vine tendril with blue grapes, body and stem decorated with light green-accented reeds, colourful sculptural floral bouquets and long floral stems, basket with 3 reserves, within which polychrome-painted sabre, hunting horn and sabre bag, fish trap and ruder, fish hooks and blue ribbon, spear, marshal’s baton, epaulette and cord, to centre of base an oak tree with leafy stems and acorns, on base rocaille a seated boy wearing a hunting hat with a white feather, green oak leaves and a yellow ribbon, in his right hand he holds a hunting horn into which he is blowing, in his left hand a bow, to the base a dead rabbit and a wild duck, to the centre vine stock with red grapes and autumn leaves, opposite stands a boy hauling in a fishing net with fish, crabs and lobsters in it, behind which in a basket small fish, base with 4 small reserves and polychrome-painted insects, gilt-accented shells and 4 volute feet, 1 piece, height 74 cm, width 50 cm, restored firing crack to underside of base, some restoration, Meissen, blue sword mark on base of basket stand and underglaze blue sword mark on underside of base, model no. P 102, former no. 107, 126, red painter no. 65, model by J. Th. P. Helmig, 1892, painting influenced by L. Ph. G. Sturm, Meissen, VEB, inv. no. 3185 (Ru)
