One out of two bookcases designed by Epstein for a villa built by him in Stösslgasse in Vienna.
rnst Epstein (1881–1938) came from a Jewish family of entrepreneurs and was an architect and Vienna’s master mason. He worked primarily for private customers and between 1910 and 1938 realised more than 100 residential and commercial buildings, including their furnishings and interior decoration. In his early years he worked as a construction supervisor for Adolf Loos in the residential and commercial building of Goldmann & Salatsch on Michaelerplatz.
