China, c. 50 x 47 cm (incl. frame c. 80 x 80 cm), about 1850, square-shaped silk, gold and silver embroidery on silk ground, very rare pattern design with a central emblem consisting of two qilin riders (the “qilin” is a peaceful mythical animal from Chinese mythology), spandrels with a heron, a phoenix, a toad and a hare, excellent condition, mounted on linen with wooden frame.
