Southwest Caucasus, c. 228 x 169 cm, about 1870, among the classical Kazak carpets is the three-medallion Lori Pambak type, the present piece is a beautiful specimen with an elongated, blue central medallion reminiscent of Turkmen gul shapes, accompanied by two light-ground octagons with emerald-colour, emblem-like shields, the presence of green and yellow is an aesthetically important factor and indicates the item’s old age, consistently full, soft pile wool, both ends with kilim trim still preserved, side edges rebound, a collector’s piece.
