Flemish verdure tapestry,
Belgium, c. 310 x 315 cm, end of the 16th/beginning of the 17th century, depiction of Rinaldo and Armida in a garden with a pagoda in the background, with auricular and strapwork cartouche on the border, the carpet is reduced in width with some reworking, later trimmed with a velvet border on the sides and mounted on fabric. Provenance:
Until 1950 ownership of Swedish Count and stadtholder Hans Gotthard Wachtmeister (1874-1950). In 1950 the tapestry was inherited by his daughter. Currently in Swedish private ownership.
