Mixed lot (2 items): Two African bangles made of ivory.
1: Ibo or Urhobo, Nigeria: An ivory bangle with age craquelure and good, honey-coloured patina (as a result of protracted use). DM: 11.5 cm to 12 cm (on the outside), 6.5 cm to 7 cm (on the inside), 2.5 cm thick.
2: A tall ivory bangle with a concave exterior bent inwards, decorated with incised and all-round lines, as well as with slanted decoration with dot-and-circle motifs. This is a type of ornament that can be found from the Fur in Sudan up to the Mangbetu and Zande (also known as Azande) in Northern Congo. With visible patina and scuffed decoration due to age. H: 4.8 cm; DM: 9.7 cm (on the outside), 6.7 cm (on the inside).
