Portrait plate, unique, porcelain, cobalt blue body with curved wide, fine gilt rims, arched and notched border, pierced arched frieze with gilt rims and gilt décor, neck with blue tiny buds on lozenges with geometrical décor, well with finely painted polychrome bust, inscribed verso, Ø 24.5 cm, Meissen, underglaze blue sword mark, 2nd half of the 19th cent. Christian Leberecht Vogel, Dresden 1759-1816, painter, draughtsman and art theoretician, as a painter, his speciality was children’s portraits. The portrait on the plate was modelled on a ‘Bildnis eines Kindes, vor einem Bilderbuch’, c. 1810, presumably his son, Carl Christian Vogel.
