Possibly an illustration for a family tree book showing the crests of the Bavarian noble family von Notthafft. The family Notthafft, first attested in documents of 1040, was of the upper Bavarian nobility. Their estates comprised many castles in Bavaria and the Palatinate (inc. Wildstein, Falkenau, Thierstein) as well as the castles of Bodenstein and Nittenau (Oberpfalz). In 1952 the dynasty was extinguished on its male side.

The Notthafft family, first mentioned in 1040, was one of the Bavarian ‘Uradel’ families. The barons collected countless castles in Bavaria and the Palatinate (including Wildenstein, Falkenau and Thierstein, among others) as well as the castles of Bodenstein and Nittenau (Oberpfalz).

The male line died out in 1952.
