In designing this model, James Irving developed a chair that forms a bridge between modern production technology and skilful cabinetmaking, so that it may be considered a typical Thonet product. It is a modern bentwood solution that exhausts the material’s flexibility to the extreme.
This object will be auctioned for the benefit of the MAK ART SOCIETY. The proceeds will go to the acquisition budget of Vienna’s MAK (Museum of Applied Art).
