A unique piece.

From the series of the “Land Carpets”, which has been developed since 2007 and all examples of which feature different motifs. The present carpet shows the Bahamas. It is based on an aerial image of a resort development in progress and depicts complex road and irrigation patterns. Man-made geometric shapes compete with natural, freely flowing forms. The rich colour palette, different pile heights, and intricate cutting add further contrasts to the rug.
“Land Carpet” rugs, inspired by nature and farmed landscapes, show the world from straight above, as we usually see it only from the window of a plane. Based on satellite images and aerial photographs, each “Land Carpet” is a piece of nature captured to be touched. As each country deals with landscape and farming in a different way, “Land Carpet” comes in various designs, each of them representing a different continent, country, or region. The stylized fields are of different height and let “Land Carpet” appear like a miniaturized landscape.

Awarded the Elle Decoration International Design Award in China in 2009.
