Ant. Raph. Mengs delin./ Aug. Campanella sculpsit in the plate, 56 x 64 cm, with broad margin along platemarks, mounted, unframed, (2), (Sch)In 1777 the ancient ruins of the so-called Villa Negroni were excavated near the baths of Diocletian. Anton Raphael Mengs and Anton von Maron made sketches and coloured drawings after the wall frescoes which Angelo Campanella used as models for a series of eight engravings.
