Probably sale, Amsterdam, Roos, 1 May 1849, lot 110 (with pendant);

We are grateful to Fred Meijer of the RKD for confirming the attribution of the present picture after inspection of the original. The attribution of the present picture has also been confirmed by Dr Bernd Ebert on the basis of a photograph (written communication). According to Dr Ebert, this portrait is the pendant to the Portrait of a man standing next to a balustrade (see B. Ebert, Simon and Isaack Luttichuys, Berlin 2009, p. 543, no. A41.) and that these two works are likely those mentioned on pp. 610-611 under C29 and C30.
