Gottfried Prinz zu Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst (1867–1932)
Diplomat and Major General i.d.R. and Knight of the Order of the Golden Fleece.
Son of the Lord High Steward, Konstantin Prinz zu Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst and Marie von Sayn-Wittgenstein-Ludwigsburg.
After attending the Military Academy in Wiener Neustadt and customary military deployment, he was sent to St. Petersburg as Military Attaché from 1902 to 1907 and subsequently transferred to the diplomatic service. In 1908 he married Archduchess Maria Henriette von Österreich-Teschen (1883–1956). This marriage produced three children.
From 1908 to November 1913 he was Counsellor of the Austrian Embassy in Berlin and from 4 August 1914 until the collapse of the Dual Monarchy Ambassador in Berlin. His role in the policy of alliance with the German Reich was significant.
