Emperor Ferdinand I, Vienna 19.4.1793–29.6.1875 Prague, Emperor 1835–1848, Ferdinand V, King of Bohemia and Hungary, despite physical disabilities followed his father, Franz I, in protecting the principle of legitimacy. The business of government was taken over by the Staatskonferenz, incl. State Chancellor Metternich and Min. Count Kolowrat-Liebsteinsky, abdicated in 1848 in favour of his Franz Joseph. This portrait cup and saucer was executed in 1833 on the occasion of the 40th birthday of Emperor Ferdinand I.
