Baroque bureau cabinet,
German 18th century. A deux corps, made in walnut and burlwood veneer with staining to cherrywood colour, with marquetry panels and bands in further fine woods and brass mounts. The lower section has a concave central section and three drawers, with a serpentine fall-front writing surface with figural and engraved marquetry, interior drawers and compartments. The upper section has rounded angles, a moulded cornice with Knochenbarock decoration, two doors with decorative bands and gold painted inner mouldings, a fitted interior with similar decoration as the front, in the form of lavishly executed drawers, a niche door and sliding compartment. Ca. 206 x 114 x 60 cm. Some ageing and wear. (DOC)
