Museum-quality early Baroque hall cupboard,
In the style of the Swiss cabinet maker Johann Heinrich Keller (b. 1627 in Basel - d. 1708 in Basel) last third of the 17th century. A robust softwood hall cupboard with walnut veneer, of architectural style and demountable by means of the wedge joints. The hall cupboard is set on bun feet and has a two-part moulded cornice, resting on twist-turned columns, the central columns being more prominent, decorated on all sides with fully carved heads and hanging fruits. The hall cupboard has two large doors with domed panels and similar columns, these with figural carved applications, the sides with similarly configured doors. With a large chased two-bar iron case lock. 242 x 249 94 cm. Heavily restored in the plinth area. In cared-for condition. (DOC)
