Mixed lot (6 items): Thailand: one teapot, - Mimoevropské a domorodé um?ní

2 large bowls and one small bowl, one lidded box and one small box. All made of silver! Circa 1900. 1: A teapot, form executed in European style (partly cast), but with very ornate decoration in Thai style: On the lid rests a cast handle in the form of a praying worshipper in courtly robes and a crown. He sits on 2 all-round circles of embossed and engraved leaves. Also chased (repoussé) and engraved are 24 similar worshippers, seated next to and above each other on the outer side of the teapot in 24 leaf-shaped niches. Additional embossed and engraved leaf decorations on the side, on the spout and all-round on the low, round foot. A masterful work of a Thai silversmith. H: 28 cm.
2: Two flat, round bowls made of silver. Their outer sides display similar decoration in the same technique (repoussé and gravure) as with the teapot: seated, praying worshippers in courtly robes in leafy niches, interrupted by ornate leafy patterns. One bowl stands on a high foot in the form of a winged dragon, the other bowl stands on three smaller, dragon-like mythical creatures. H: 21 cm and 12.5 cm, diameter of the top of the bowls: 21.7 cm and 25.2 cm.
3: A small, deep bowl made of silver. Its upper, outer edge is embossed and engraved all-round with a decorative band of praying worshippers and leafy tendrils. H: 5,8 cm, diameter: 12 cm. Considering the similarity of the decorations, the teapot and the 3 bowls may be the work of the same silversmith.
4: A round, flat lidded box made of silver. The lid and the underside are decorated with a total of 6 circular rows of spiral-shaped embossed knops in relief. The smooth underside displays the engraved symbol of the silversmith. H: 6 cm, diameter: 10 cm.
5: A small, octagonal box made of silver with a sliding lid. Probably Chinese workmanship. Atop the lid sits a highly charming foo lion. Its right paw rests on a hollow, movable filigree sphere. Its left eye is also movable. On the 8 external surfaces of the lid are 2 figural and 6 floral, framed ‘images’. On the smooth underside of the box is the hallmark of the silversmith in Chinese characters. The minute, small box probably served as storage for medicine, make-up or for opium. H: 4 cm, L: 3 cm, W: 1.8 cm.
All 6 silver objects: about 1900. (ME)
