1: A beautiful, heavy old bangle made of silver executed in box-like shape (hollow). A typical piece of workmanship from Bokhara, Uzbekistan. With four eagle heads. Decorated with three red-brown set agates (carnelians) with cabochon-cut, with many small turquoise pearls (in minor part also early turquoise imitation stones), as well as with silver granule. An interesting piece in very good condition. H: 7.2 cm, B: 9 cm.
2: A back ornament and amulet for boys. Manufactured by the Tekke Turkmen people in the regions of Turkmenistan, Iran and Afghanistan. This type of ornament is called 'Ok-yay'.
In the shape of a triple ‘bow and arrow’ symbol. Cut in sheet silver and partly fire-gilt on the front. Decorated with the typical volutes and ram head motifs of the Tekke Turkem people, with set carnelians and imitation carnelian of red glass. With 13 pendants made of silver, alternating with silver decoration, carnelians (or glass) and spherical bells. This typical Tekke ornament is hung on the back of young boys, or sewn on the back of their garments, as a protective amulet. A small tear on the upper right. H: 16 cm (with pendants), W: 13 cm. Both objects in this mixed lot: 19th century. (ME)
