As a painter of snow and domestic scenes, Walde achieved an established status within Austrian painting of the first half of the 20th century. His themes revolve around the Tyrolean in all its facets - around nature and rural people. His ‘Begegnung’ (1924), his ‘Große Winterlandschaft’ (1926) and his ‘Stadt im Tauschnee’ (1927) are striking examples of his compositions.
