designed by Paolo Giordano for I + I, Milan, in 2009, hand-woven wool, manufactured in India, 200 x 300 cm. (DR) Prototype.
This is the transference of a familiar graphic design from the 1960s and 70s – used in industrial applications like aluminium sheeting, rubber linoleum and ceiling panels – to a colourful Oriental rug. Two different cultures far apart in time and space illustrate how traditional ethnic repertory can be integrated into a contemporary visual language.
