Felice Boselli was a very successful painter of still lifes, predominantly producing kitchen scenes. He was a pupil of Panfilo or Michelangelo Nuvolone in Milan and drew inspiration from the work of Lombard painters, such as Evaristo Baschenis. He was influenced by the work of Giuseppo Recco, who worked in Milan, drawing stimuli in his early career from the work of Flemish still life painters, such as Pieter Aertsen and Joachim Beuckelaer. His first important commissions came from the Sanvitale family, and he executed numerous still lifes for their seat in Fontanellato. He worked primarily in Piacenza and Parma, where many of his works are still held in private collections.
