Unlike most other depictions of the Magdalene by the Master, the vessel containing the ointment is ceramic here, rather than gilt bronze. A comparable composition in this regard, even though in a smaller format, was auctioned as lot 1013 by Fischer, Lucerne, 17.06.2004.
