Brown-red painted wood (with older paint underneath), the shop counter with 14 (of 16) drawers, two drawers as fall front (lower right), on the top a slit for coins (as the apothecary was not supposed to handle the coins) and a door in the centre. The back painted grey. Intended as a freestanding piece. Measurements ca. 85 x 224 x 63 cm. The herb box has a hinged lid and 10 compartments. Measurements ca. 36 x 53 x 225 cm. Some damage. (WU).
The Adler-Apotheke in Marktredwitz (Franken, Bavaria) was founded by Johann Weygel, who came from Wunsiedel in 1650. He became a citizen of Redwitz in 1654 and in 1657 bought a house in the former Schulgasse. Both pieces offered here belonged no doubt to the fittings of the AdlerApotheke.
