Two Jüchtzer figural groups on the subject of Love - “A sacrifice to Love” and “Love defeated"
porcelain, polychromed and gilt, central altar, a young lady pouring oil from a votive dish into the fire, she and Cupid are bound with garlands of roses, the facing side and reverse each with 2 laurel wreaths with gold beads and light purple bands, the oval stepped base with fine and wide gilt rims and frieze heightened with gilt, height: 36 cm, length: 25 cm, minor restoration, model H 18, former no. 121, black painter no. 59;
“Love defeated” porcelain, polychromed and gilt, a young couple standing at the altar of love, the lady tied with a rose wreath, atop the altar 2 necking doves and rose garlands, the youth wearing a rose wreath in his hair, a burning torch in the right hand and a butterfly in the left hand, the tiered altar with gilt edging, gilt egg-and-dart border, red and light purple rose garlands, 2 gilt ram heads and 2 Cherubim at the corners, the oval base with narrow and wide gilt edging, moulded border with rosettes, gilt strung beads and leaves, height: 38 cm, length 25 cm, minor restorations, model J 50, both figural groups after models by Christian Gottfried Jüchtzer 1787 (Ru)
