Bureau cabinet,
Italy/Venice area, first half of the 18th century. A two-part pine bureau cabinet with walnut and burl walnut veneer, richly decorated with figural and floral marquetry in ivory and pewter. The lower section has three drawers with serpentine and angled fronts, a fall-front writing surface and a fitted interior with two drawers and door and a base which slides backwards. The upper section has two doors with later mirrors and two small pull-out storage areas. 245 x 107 x 58 cm. With parts replaced, some ageing and wear, with losses to wood and veneer. (MIN)
