We are grateful to Catherine Aitchison Hull, an expert on Bridell, for confirming the authenticity of this work. She dates it to the early 1850s and will publish the work in due course.
Frederick Lee Bridell was one of the most talented landscape painters of his time. He died at a young age, leaving only a small oeuvre.
