Provenance: Private German collection. Literature: B. Grimschitz, Die Altwiener Maler, Wien 1961, colour plate 51. Exhibited: “Österreichische Meisterwerke aus Privatbesitz”, Residenzgalerie Salzburg 1967, cat. no. 99. The flower painter Leopold von Stoll was active around 1828 at the botanical gardens in Warsaw. Later he moved to Vienna where he specialised in still lifes with flowers and fruit.
