West Turkestan, c. 156 x 127 cm, late 18th century, very early tent door hanging of the Saryk tribes in heavily worn condition, cochineal red central field with five gables and floral pattern elements, the use of white cotton highlights the longitudinal decorations, gable bands and ‘S’ symbols in particular; a few damaged areas, repairs and bare pile areas, both ends trimmed, none the less a very rare Turkmen collector’s piece.
